So, you've reached the destination at this moment, in the Pentaxland!

I went from a brand new MX (1977) to an MX + new ME Super about 9 years later (1986), then back to MX about 6 years later (1992), then MX + Super A (bought used in 2000) about 8 years later, then back to an MX about 2 years later (2002), then to an MX + Samsung GX-1S 4 years later (2006), then added a K20D late in 2008. I still have the MX.

Wow, you beat me by five years!
That's not fair: in 1969, I was only 10 years old
I knew I should have started sooner.

And I shouldn't have taken a long hiatus during which I lost all the knowledge that your tax dollars provided me.

I think you probably did it just right!

Is it the same MX throughout?

If one or more of the following is true:

- if my camera is irretrievably broken
- if I become convinced that the camera is limiting my technique

and, at the same time, both of the following are true:

- I can afford the replacement
- the replacement solves the technique limitation problems.

This is why I haven't yet upgraded from the K10D to the K20D. I could improve my technique with it (especially in the high-iso, high contrast situations where noise and dynamic range limitations become annoying), but not enough to justify the extra money right now. I've barely scratched the surface with the '10, in all reality.

This has to be one of the strangest progressions I've seen. Not just the models involved, but the dates

A novel approach in this age!

1986 - Fuji STX 2
1987 - Zenit 12XP (as a very cheap backup SLR that soon became my more favourite to work with)
2003 - PENTAX MZ-M
2007 - PENTAX K10D (Bought it only because local film-development was shoddy and I thought it was time to make the leap to digital. Would be quite happy with the MZ-M otherwise).

1/2 decade.

I have a k10d and :
*didn't bother to get the k20d,
*will most likely not get the new body that is to be released later this year
*will most likely not get a new body in 2010.
*will look for a new body in 2011 if Pentax has something nice to offer.

I purchased my K10D in 2006 I think...so ..2011... that's 5 years.

Kind regards
.lars

Varying a lot

1975: First SLR, Topcon Unirex
1977(or 78?): replaced with Pentax MX (difficult to get lenses for the Unirex)
1982: replaced with Pentax LX (because I couldn't resist the good price I got in Singapore)
2007: Added K10D

(in addition, I have an inherited ME Super and my wife has an ME Super, too)

I don't expect the K10D to last as long as the LX :-)

I was ready for digital when the DS came, but initially, it was a bit too expensive for me.
