D645 seems to be available pretty soon. Can't wait!

The first photo is very artistic!

No guessing which market Pentax are after with the 645D then I guess Quite a crafty marketing move IMO.

So Ben, do you reckon any of your fellow pros are interested in this new baby?

What is this model holding? Is it a (film) medium-format camera? Last time I used medium-format was, um, during the Nixon administration.

Also, I'm curious about that eyecup. Can't tell for sure, of course, but it LOOKS fabulous. Don't suppose something like that is available for the K10D?

Hmm. So I've reread the posts before mine, and based on what others said, I'm guessing that the model is holding a Pentax medium-format digital camera (the "645D") that in fact has not yet been released. Am I guessing right?

It looks like the 645n (film), but the plug is just as valuable either way.

Yeah it is the 645n. But great branding promotion..Called Pentax to tell them. Didn't even know they had the cover. Great exposure since the magazine is sold worldwide.

Ben,

You are SO RIGHT about the cover! And the 645 isn't too bad either. Wow. I wish I had "twin" 645's.

To find out that info, you may wish to look at the technical info provided on the Kodak site. It is the 31.6 megpixel sensor...

Linear DR is 70.5dB at native sensitivity (ISO 100), approx 11.5 stops. With chip temperature rise and associated electronics noise of the processor etc, the reality will probably be in the region be 10.5 - 11 stops which, with 16 bit Raw instead of 12bit (or 14 with the new 1DmkIII), this should provide a considerable enhancement in image quality!

Pity I will never be able to afford the system.
