K200 won't turn into MF

For some reason, my (almost 1 year old) K200 stopped responding to the AF/MF switch, and always AF for me even if I change it to MF mode.

I couldn't find any settings that could possibly cause this, and I tested this issue with 3 different lenses (all of them worked just fine with MF in the past).

Is this an hardware problem, and I should use my warranty?
Did anyone ever had/heard about this kind of problem before?

Thanks

Take the lens off of your camera. Look at the AF coupler on the mount of the camera. It will be in the lower right corner of the mount if you are facing the camera. When the focus switch is set to AF, it should protrude. When it is set to MF, it should retract.

Hope this helps,
Al

If the AF coupler does not retract when switching from AF to MF, it means bad news.

This switch has two functions. 1) Is mechanical to retract AF coupler. 2) Is electronic to disable Af functions.

I believe the switch is either broken or "disengaged". Anyway, it also means you need qualified service.

Let us know your final results with whatever goes on in this regard.

Anyone sent camera for this repair?

Hi sorry to reopen an old thread but was wondering if anyone had sent a camera for this repair and had an idea of turn around time or price?

Had the exact same thing happen and unfortunately my camera is too old and not under warranty.

Thank you very much

I would guess that the repair cost at the service center would be about the same as buying a used *istD body that is a far better body for manual focus work.
