Is this normal?

I am not sure, because I didn't notice it earlier. When I shake my camera in my hand I can hear the sensor and the whole mechanical unit move inside the camera. Something similar to the dust removal not as bad as that. It happens even when the camera is turned off. Do you feel any thing moving when you shake your camera. It is a Pentax K200D.

Try turning anti shake off before turning the camera off and see if that changes anything at all. If not, and anti shake is working.. I wouldn't worry until you run int problems. My k20d does not make any noise. My k100d does, although it took a few spills on pavement and still operates like a champ.

I called pentax canada early in my ownership and they confirmed that this is normal behaviour from the shake reduction, even when off.

The sensor is floating in the SR mechanism so that it can move to cancel camera movement.
