I'm a USER, are you

just curious if any of you out there in K10D land use USER mode and if so what are your settings and what situation do you use them in.

My USER is my snap shot mode,

P mode,
Normal Flash operation (Have it set to wireless on other modes)
AWB (mostly use daylight or presets in other modes)
Auto ISO 100-800 (100-400 in other modes)
DNG+JPEG (DNG in other modes)

Still finalising my JPEG settings but currently they are Bright Mode -2 sat, +1 sharp, -1 cont.

I find that that this setup gives me the best flexibility for happy snaps and i don't need to remember what settings i change, and then change them back.

Just like me... :-)

The USER setting works like charm if I handle my cam over to someone- and press the GREEN button before it (set to MTF)- but otherwise I always use M as my lucky K10D has KatzEye focusing screen... :-) so I am the only snapshooter who knows about limitations... But anyway I would like to have unlimited selections under USER (like my Casio Z750 has under so-named BestShots which are customisable via PC...)- but luckily living with chances given- at least something!
Best and happy shooting, JR

The only thing I've shot consistently of late is tennis, and even that is quickly coming to an end (with the end of the HS season), so I'm loathe to set the User settings to fit that.

Besides, with all the shooting I've done, I've gotten really quick at sizing up the scene and setting them all separately. Oh well. Maybe someday!

I have the user mode set for use with a specific lens and TC combo, specifically a 300mm F4.0 and 1.7x autofocus adaptor.

I set higher ISO, white balance to daylight, for wildlife shots.

If I change to an AF and Automatic apature lens later I just switch it back to program/

Great Idea Lowell, I think I will work on a similar setup for my 300/4 Takumar.

Hmm...or maybe I'll do a setup for indoor tungsten so I don't have to trust that AWB :P
