I'm not sure if I should be starting a new thread for this...

Would someone explain what works in regards to m42 lenses? I mean, right now I have a Pentax-A SMC f1.7 50mm lens. I focus and set the aperature on the camera (lens on auto) and it's good to go. Now if I brought one of the old Pentax 50mm m42 lenses is anything automatic? Or is it all completely manual?

What on the K10d makes it less good for m42 lenses? Just curious as this seems to come up sometimes. I have a DL and no plans of upgrading at the moment.

edit: This FAQ answered my "what is different with m42 lenses" question:

M42 lenses are completely manual. The camera cannot stop them down to the shooting aperture during exposure, so you'll have to that yourself. Which of course leaves the viewfinder pretty dark. Then after the shot you open up again so that you can focus (manually) the next picture.
