I am presently trying to find myself in the jump seat of one of these, but I'll need a LOT of luck.
Good Luck!

If this is allowed, take your camera!

Thanks.

It really is one of my all time favourites. I just need to recover some more detail from the highlights (yes it's in there). I'm on a learning curve still with PS.

You have an EXCELLENT panning technique! The large picture shows STUNNING detail of a clearly focused plane with two people in the cockpit and a beatifully blurred background. You need to post this and more in the photo gallery!

You either learn to MF or learn to game the AF system. It doesn't matter which brand or camera. AF is a tool, and it works well, but it will never know your intent. It can only get lucky.

I wish this thread would go away!

Every time I see it on top again I am drawn to it like an angry moth to the devils flame!!!!

Please don't tell me to ignore it""" other than the dysfunctionally inconsistent pttl flash system, the dreaded AF issues are my only other beef with my cameras and to see it dismissed as bad researched purchasing mistakes or worse 'user error' instead of a what is is, stirs the hate in the hole where my heart used to be...

My heart now belongs to the Manual focus lenses...

Just tried out Canon 5D and 1DSmkII with some 24-105L lens in the local camera shop where they had some used stuff on the shelf. I went to buy some film for my old Chinon system but couldn't get my hands off those two cameras after reading all this AF speed babble. Well, that was quite an experience. Not even going to the viewfinder side of things, but I suddenly started laughing when I activated the AF with 1DS first and the shopkeeper asked if everything was okay. Well dunno, maybe not, but the speed was incredible. Right there after activation. First I thought that the AF didn't work and the lens must have been focused on the spot already. But no. Off-center points as fast as well and 100% accurate. 5D didn't do any worse with the center point.

K20D with Sigma HSM AF doesn't come even close. Just my 2 cents.

Hey, you just tried my standard setup (1Ds2 + 24-105) ! Just wait until you get your hands on a 400/5.6 or 85/1.8 and that'll make the 24-105 seem slow...

Heh, I better not try those, because I cannot afford 'em anyway atm. FF viewfinder is incredible and Canon AF blazing fast but maybe we'll see Pentax FF next year and budget will be on the better side then. And hey, used 1Ds systems will be even cheaper anyway

Hey, I tried a Ferrari not long ago. Not even going to the appearance side of things, but I suddenly started laughing when I pushed the accelerator pedal. It was soooo fast and the speed was incredible. Right there at 100 kmh and at 300 kmh a bit later.
My Suzuki and our Opel doesn't even come close. I wonder why don't everybody buy Ferrari?

There are people who think that photography is a simple act of pointing the camera in the general direction of the subject and pressing the shutter. And if it does not take picture, upgrade the camera not the skill.
