You can't do live view when plugged to the computer.

Try using a TV. SO much better you won't go back to using the computer.

I'll vouch for that! Though a TV/Video Monitor won't fit all situations I've been using one several months in my astronomical observatory. I had a 13 in diagonal CRT TV left over from the Digital Broadcast Conversion and tried putting it on a stand next to my telescope. The jump from a 2.5 inch to 13 inch display means I can focus many times faster. I can also check the final photos on the large screen without having to connect the USB cable, load onto a computer, convert from RAW, increase the brightness, then disconnect for the next shot.

One weakness of my K110D (and I presume other Pentax cameras) is once you connect the USB all camera controls go dead. Connect the video cable only blocks the LCD screen. Note: if the cable is connected and the monitor is off it can be a bit disconcerting.

No. I think Sony makes a big deal about one of their cameras that outputs Hi Definition Video.

The object here is to use a cheap monitor (free if it is an analog TV being replaced with digital) to aid in focusing, framing, etc. The K100D outputs NTSC or PAL, both are analog signals (about 480i in the U.S.). Most any TV with a composite video input (usually a yellow RCA/Phono jack) will work.

No, you can't use live view with remote assistance nor chose AF points. I know.
