wet CCD

So...How do I go about getting the dry spit off of my CCD?

Don't ask.

Anyway...I couldn't find any info on it in the forum, maybe I used the wrong search words.

Should I just take it to a camera shop, or should I try cleaning with some other method?

There has GOT to be a good story behind it. "Adult" shoot gone terribly wrong?

Sounds like you need a wet clean. If you're fairly comfortable with the idea the Copperhill method is worth looking at. If not, spend the $30-50 and have a local shop do it.

My bet is that he/someone else was leaning over the camera while it was in cleaning mode or on bulb with the lens removed or whatever and was in awe of the beauty of the innards of the Pentax and subsequently drooled.

A simple answer

Easy.... he was cleaning his sensor with a rocket blower when his pet dog got a snoot full of dust particles and sneezed into the camera body. I'm surprised we don't hear more of this happening considering how many dogs and cameras there are in the world.

Don't ask? You are asking for a lot of sarcasm. Take it to a local shop and have it proffesionally done.

The shop is your best bet. Or pick up some Eclipse cleaner and Sensor Swabs, if you're feeling adventurous.

Well, I can't recommend using an air compressor.

All cleaning solutions are alcohol based. If there were any sugar in your mouth, it will not come off with alcohol. Only water based liquid will get it off.

I use 99%pure tech grade alcohol and distilled water. Alcohol can be purchased at any electronics store.

My experience comes from working on thousands of Lcd panels, both bare panels (glass surface) and panels with polarizer attached (film that the consumer sees).

If you decide to have the sensor cleaned at the shop, make sure they have experience removing dried on organic matter.

Delkin swabs and sensor fluid work pretty good, as does the sensor scope.
How much stuff do you have in there?, couple drops, DIY. More than that, I would send it in.

Cheers. Mike.
