Not sure if this helps but at Sigma announces 10-20mm f3.5 EX DC HSM lens: Digital Photography Review

"It is designed for cameras with APS-C/DX sensors, and will be available in mounts for Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Sony and Pentax DSLRs"

What's HSM?

Hyper-Sonic Motor, Sigma's name for the fast/quiet AF motor tech in most newer lenses these days (same as SDM/SWM/USM/...).

And yes, the K-m should support it just fine. Some of the older bodies, *istD series and original K100 I think, don't have the power contacts on the lens mount to drive those motors, which is why there's that disclaimer about HSM not being available for some. All the newer bodies do.

Does Sigma make HSM lenses for Pentax mount? I had the impression they only made HSM for Canikon, while giving us only screw driven lenses. Is there HSM for the Sigma 100-300/4?

Apparently they do now. The page for the 10-20 suggests it's HSM-only, no screwdrive option at all.

Any NEW Sigma lenses are now coming out with HSM for Pentax. So the new 70-200mm f/2.8 Macro II and 50-150mm f/2.8 DC have HSM. Since it's new, the 10-20 f/3.5 will have HSM, but the old one just has the screwdrive. Ditto for the 30mm f/1.4, 100-300 f/4 (and other I'm sure) - screwdrive only for Pentax, HSM for Canikon.

Note that HSM uses a true "ring-motor" which is superior to Pentax's "micromotor" implementation of SDM. Most Canon "USM" lenses use the superior ring-motor as well.

I'm spoiled by HSM/USM and all my lenses have it, and I won't buy a lens that doesn't have it

Oh that's good to hear. I loved HSM when I'd use Sigmas back in my Nikon days. Ooh I wish they'd make the 100-300 in HSM for us! That lens looks fantastic!
