Firmware update

I have download the latest firmware update from pentax and follow the instructions. when I hold down the menu button and turn on the camera, The lcd screen does show the updated firmware version to be loaded?

Your question needs some clarification.

What camera do you have? Pentax makes several DSLR models and each have their own firmware.

When powered on with the menu button depressed they show the current firmware. If the update succeeded the old firmware has been overwritten and is gone. If the update aborted the hopefully you are still functioning with the old firmware. You wrote, "to be loaded.' What do you mean by that?

make sure that when you dropped it onto your memory card, you didn't place it in any sub folders etc. Simply open the card and place the file in the first box that pops up. It should work then. I made that mistake once.
