K200D Discontinued at Henrys?

Hmm,
I was just browsing the Henry's (Canadian photo chain) on-line site and there seem to be NO K200's listed. The K20 & K-M exist but no K200.
Database error or deliberate omission?
Nice deal on a K20D, you get a battery grip as well. I purchased mine less than 3 weeks ago, I wonder it they'd let me return it and purchase it again!!

Pentax Canada and USA websites still list it but I guess Henrys removed it after the stock was sold.

Word has been that production stopped months ago, but Pentax presumably made enough to last quite a while longer. Supplies may be starting to dry up, but actually, they've been showing as out of stock and then reappearing again for several months. So the current situation with Henry's is not new, and may turn out to be just temporary as well.

I bought my KM just a couple of weeks ago at Henry's and noticed the only Pentax DSLR bodies they had were the K20D and KM.

My wife was looking to buy a K200D and was eying the K200D with 18-250mm combo at Henrys when it disappeared. Talked to Henrys and they said that stock everywhere in all their stores has run dry (though that could be just in the gta area...) and that they don't expect it to be restocked.

Found it listed at Blacks which was selling them for $100 off ($599 with kit lens). Started calling Blacks store (as online it said out of stock). Found only a few stores still had one or two. Was finally able to grab one on Tuesday at the Woodbridge location (though it was sent from the Brampton location).

As a general note, although it may be still listed in the Canada/USA websites, the K200D officially isn't listed anymore on the Japanese website. And yeah, heard it was discontinued a while back also.

But why discontinue such a good camera? Was it too close to the K20?

I found it insulting that the K200 was branded an "entry-level" camera even though its design and features were better than competitors' entry levels. The K-m can now hold that spot. Too bad Pentax doesn't feel a need to have a mid-level camera since that would be the perfect spot for the K200.

Umm...nothing personal but isn't the K20D generally speaking a mid-level cam? It certainly is price wise...

the definition of entry-level or mid-level is subjective. To me, the K200, K10 and K-m all share the same sensor (SONY CCD), I guess it would make sense for Pentax to put a CMOS sensor in the camera above the entry-level.

The big difference in my mind is the scene mode and two dial system. I prefer the two dial system (easier control without going through the menus) and don't care too much for the scene mode. On the other hand, the green button is a good feature.

I've been keeping track of the K200d prices lately as well....funny that Henry's isn't clearing them off at fire sale prices. The price of K200d + 18-250 combo has hardly decreased and now they are all out. The last time I saw it was still around $1100 CDN - the same price as I bought it back in last June. The cheapest I've seen is around X'mas time which was approx. $1050.

After getting used to the K200d, the "entry level" model before Km came along, I simply can't bear holding the entry level dslr of other brands......sad to see the k200d to be discontinued so soon, it's a great camera.

Same here. Pentax never did/do enough to educate salespeople about their cameras.

K200D was a sound offering but w/o much attention, people overlook the camera. Weatherproof w/o enough weatherproofed lenses etc. Poor product placement etc.
