My brand new K10D!

Well while everyone is anticipating the new Pentax body, I went out and got me a brand spanking new K10D from the auction site to go along with my K20D.I think I have more fun with older less expensive gear.So here is first light with it using my K20D's kit lens.Focus seems good so far.Could someone who still uses the K10D maybe share their favorite in camera jpg settings, the stock settings don't pop quite as much as my K20D, but the raw's look great imho.Thanks..............c

I'm with Bart. I think JPEG in camera is keeping the print and throwing away the negative. Just my devalued 2 cents Canadian.

Nice acquisition!! As for me, I switch it up at times. When on JPEG, my sharpness is at 1 or 2, Saturation is at 1, and contrast is at 1 when I dont feel like PP. When in RAW, I notice shooting in DNG takes up alittle more than PEF so I shot in PEF. Also in JPEG, i like to to B&W convert.

What about for your white balance?? I normally shoot during the day and rarely at night. So I am either on Daylight or Tungsten. I have not bothered to toy with the others like manual and color temperature.

I shoot RAW only, so I simply leave the white balance on automatic so the the LCD is close to the correct colour balance. The WB setting has no effect on the RAW files.

I use the top JPEG setting on my K10D and I think the pictures are great. I'm always careful with my lighting though.

I think I will be 'still' using the K10D for many years...I'm still using my Leica Rangefinder, Mamiya Medium Format, Pentax S1a, ES11 and K1000...

Congrats!
I usually shoot RAW+JPEG, this gives me the flexibility to just go with the JPEG if I'm satisfied, or tweak the RAW to my heart's content if necessary. This works especially well for just vacation photography or family snaps, where I don't want to spend that much time post processing. SD cards are cheap these days, so storage capacity has never been a problem for me.

My JPEG settings are
Normal
Contrast: +2
Sharpening: +2
Saturation: 0 or +1

I'm pretty happy with the results. In fact, sometimes I've spent some time tweaking a RAW file, only to find that I like the JPEG from the camera better! Not sure if that says more about the K10D or my PP skills...

I have always shot Raw+Jpeg on my K20D, and am plan on doing the same with the K10D.So far I've just cranked up the sharpness all the way and the jpegs look pretty good.I really plan on using this K10D as my dedicated multi level pano cam, and its much quicker to stitch jpegs to see if the shot works, then go back and process raws if it does. Thanks for the advice guys!

Same here. I also use + 1 on sharpness and contrast.
