When, and if, do you plan on to purchase the new K?

Let's say that it costs $1,700 at release USD. Of course the specs are all over the place, but let's assume all the stuff we've seen on here are correct. When are you going to buy it?

Too bad there isn't a "soon as I have enough money" option. I can't wait to go from my *ist D to the K-7.

If the camera is a major step up from the K10D, I will strongly consider buying it when DxO Optics Pro supports it. The problem I will have in making this decision is that my K10D IQ is so damn good that it is hard for me to imagine getting much better results with another camera. I know that they can be better, but clearly, we are at the point of diminishing returns in terms of IQ.

So long as it's what I'm after, probably between July and September. My k10 can hold out for a little while longer

Considering the time it took DXO to support such a small set of Pentax bodies/lenses, I'd hold my breath^Wpurchase of a K-7 on that criteria. Sorry but Pentax support in DXO is pathetic to say the least.

You may be right about this, but I have heard that DxO is doubling their testing capacity and therefore should be able to deliver support and correction modules for the K7 and a few lenses reasonably fast. Hell, I would choose it over any other product just for basic RAW conversions, even without any lens correction modules. One thing that those of us who are interested should do is start banging on DxO's door as soon as the new camera hits the market. They even have a feature on their website for customers to request specific correction modules.

Some people will probably wonder why anyone would even care about a relatively obscure RAW converter from a small French company, when other products are readily available. Well, simply put, DxO Optics Pro really rocks.

If the K-7 costs $1700, I won't be surprised to see a few "I am jumping ship, byebye Pentax" threads.

That's why the 20D will be still around.

Probably never.
Why get a camera that is basically the same as the K20D?

$1,700 is crazy money, & thats not the Good Crazy

I paid $1750 for my Canon 5D brand new a bit less than a year ago, which I considered a no brainer buy~in price. Any crop format camera gets above $1,500 and I'd rather buy something else. Even if it has hd video, $1700 is way too much for a K-7 admission fee.
