K200D Firmware

Now that the K20D firmware has been updated with the improved focusing algorithms of the K2000/K-M, what hope is there that the K200D might be similarly enhanced with a firmware update?
It could be just the tonic a K200D owner needs to tide him or her over until they can afford a glorious new K7!

But isn't that just a rumour? Pentax says they've improved SR, that's it. I know some users feel that AF's become better or faster, while others notice no difference. Or do you actually know of a good test or Pentax information that something's been done to AF?

I've heard of so many people commenting about improved AF after the firmware upgrade on the K20D that I was rather taking the rumour to be fact. I could be wrong and, sadly, have no technical proof or test results to support it. Given that the K200D has never, to the best of my knowledge, had a firmware update and that all Pentax models seem to get one at some point in their lives, now might be the moment inject the newly-developed focusing algorithms and SR tweaks that lurk within the latest software.

To me, the K200D is a wonderful camera already. IF a firmware update was released that made it even BETTER would get kudos in my book.

The impression I got of the K20D's firmware SR improvements were that they were refinements for the newer sensor. The K200D's sensor already has a history, so I suspect it has lessons learned from the K10D in v1.00, and there just isn't anything to update.

I certainly wouldn't mind getting any possible improvements though!

Given that most places are no longer selling K200D's (they're out of stock in a lot of places where I live - K-m is your best bet), I highly doubt there would be a firmware upgrade.

After the K100D Super came out, there were no more updates for my K100D even though there was better autofocus and what not in the K10D updates. Soo.... with that experience in mind, a K200D firmware upgrade seems highly unlikely unless there is a major issue that needs to be addressed.
