3. I think it was thoughtful of Pentax to replace the storage for remote and cards (I never used that) and enable 6 AA batteries.
You can thank me for that.

When I purchased my K20D, I was extremely disappointed with the battery grip and I complained vigorously to Pentax.

Thats okay, no thanks necessary.

But it is interesting that Pentax corrected nearly everything I complained about in the K20D. I feel [sort of] vindicated.

Previously I was labelled a whiner by some in this forum, now everyone is heaping accolades and kudos toward the K-7.

Only one aspect about the K-7 that I don't have information about and that is how well this camera performs on long exposures (i.e. no forced DFS).

If I may complain about one thing.... what was Pentax thinking when they removed the beautifully designed 'rocker' control that the K20D had (i.e. the control that allows one to navigate menus, scroll through zoomed images, etc.). It's gone... it's madness!

Trust me, the change to four discrete buttons will NOT feel the same!

To add to that, the K-7's D-Li90 exceeds the capacity of 4 AA rechargeables in the K200D (and isn't much less than the best non-rechargeables). I too am firmly in the AA camp, but this size and weight advantage is the main reason companies keep using Li-Ion.
The Km uses AA Batteries and is also very compact.

I agree that Li-Ion has a better power density than AAs. And I'd buy a camera with Li-Ion batteries in a flash if only the industry would get their act together and come out with a STANDARD LI-ION BATTERY FORM FACTOR! This business of (for the most part) taking standard Li-Ion cells and packaging them up in a myriad of slightly varying plastic cases is just ludicrous!

Sean, you should take a look at the new NiMH batteries. They actually are performing favorably to Li-ion batteries. The new technology holds nearly 90% of its charge over 1 year and have current outputs of around 2700 mAh.
