The D3 most probably has a low speed continuous shooting mode. I mean that camera's got a lot of features.

Man that's shutter's quiet

Just found this video review of the K-7 (in German, I believe). At 0:54 there is an excellent sound clip of the K-7 shutter firing at what sounds like a pretty good clip (though maybe not quite 5.2 FPS).
That's swedish, not German You, guys overseas, better learn some foreign languages

Yeah! If nothing else, the domain name should have been a hint.

sound woes

I can't believe you people discussing K-7's sound here, unless is everybody planning to shoot in theater or opera, no offense here. But I found Official Japan Pentax sample images IQs are terrible, not even up to istD. Hope they are not best samples of K-7.

K-7?????????????PENTAX

Best wishes to all.

I'm not so sure those sample images are exemplary of K-7's performance.
There are so many variables in getting sharpness and good exposures, who knows if these are 'properly' captured...

I want to agree with you, whats so scary is; the site address is pentax.jp
Have you seen the womans face? It's full of softness and pixelation. Where is the K20D IQ competing with Canon 1D DS MarkIII?

I am scared about that I will have to try finding a second hand K20D due to all stores supplies out, instead of buying a brand new K-7 around this Christmas.

Best wishes

I'd hazard to guess Pentax will iron out much of the big problems of their new camera before it gets out into consumer's hands.

Then there's firmware updates...

I like quieter shutters. I don't need an opera to appreciate it.

I measured the rate of the cameras in this video (not with a stopwatch but by opening the video in a sound editing app)

the Nikon has a rate of 4.97 fps, while the Pentax has a rate of 4.22 fps in the first run and 4.00 fps in the last run.

I love that the K-7 is quiet, but comparing it to a D3 is like comparing any car to a humvee and marveling at how small it is in comparison

I don't get what you're trying to say, but it might be the language barrier

Basically, what's your point? Or what are you trying to say?

There is a some kind of barrier for sure, but I doubt it if it's language, I meant no opera but some kind of concerts you shoot sometime, I thought it would explain why are you into quiet shutters. And it was a joke. Should I explain more?

I see. That was my aunt's concert, and the only concert I shot. No need to explain, sometimes it's hard to tell if someone's joking or being sarcastic in international communities

I think I like quiet shutters basically not to attract people's attention in all cases. Like when shooting my dad while he's reading the morning paper, or my dog taking a nap, or some bird outside the window. Now that I think about it, I like quieter things. Less noise, less stress for my ears. Just like how I had my whole car "soundproofed" with sound deadening/dampening material. I was quite into car audio and aimed for sound quality, not the boom boom.

Sorry. I was in a hurry and didn't pay much attention to the site in question.

IMO a quiet shutter is a major benefit. I shoot a lot during presentations and other crowded places where the shutter sound often draws unwanted attention. If you have ever watched a White House press conference then you know how distracting a D3 or 1D can be clacking away in the background. Maybe the K-7 will become the new de facto choice for news photogs
