There are actaully three Auto ISO options in the K-7, biased to lower auto ISO setting, normal and higher auto ISO settings. I think that should address this issue.
You should tip the engineers to steal the nikon auto iso feature, to be able to set minimum shutter speed. ie if you set 1/30 as minimum then if the speed is below that then the camera will increase the iso to keep the shutter speed faster than or at the minimum.

Good idea, as long as they keep a "1/effective focal length" option in there.

There is talk of a brighter focus screen in the K-7. The K10D had a brighter screen than some previous models, but that seemed to be at the expense of accurate manual focusing. If you were slightly off it still looked OK on the screen.

For this reason lots of people buy replacement focussing screens for Pentax cameras.

Does the brighter K7 screen use the same 'micro lens' technology to make itself brighter? Is it worse, the same or better than K10D/K20D for showing actual depth of field and accurate manual focussing? If it is brighter at the further expense of accurate manual focussing, that could be a bad thing.

I'm curious about this, too, very curious: actually by context in some Pentax release or other, I gathered that they managed to get the same or better brightening *with* better manual focusing. I would presume this is accomplished by making the 'micro-lenses' accept more light from more oblique angles: my understanding is that this is why, while what we have in like the K20d may look very bright with a slow lens like the kit, it doesn't show any difference in DOF or brightness wider than about F3.5 cause the screen basically isn't 'looking' at any more of the lens than that, meaning the screen actually shows more DOF than an open lens might, meaning you get brightness but not the snappy manual focus of a fast lens.

From the phrasing, I presume they've improved on this state of affairs somehow. I'd love to know more. Especially if Pentax would be willing to make such a screen available for the K20d.

True, I loved the Nikon's Auto ISO. I think it's the best implementation yet.

I loved shooting in Manual mode but in Auto ISO.

Yup. There are times I wanted to lower the threshold for Auto ISO because we have SR to help us with low light. As always, more options and tweakability is a good thing.

Is K-7 supported by Adobe Lightroom/Bridge?

Hi John,

This morning I tried to open some K-7 samples with firmware 0.35 and imported to Lightroom 2.3. Surprisingly, LR says that file is damaged/not supported.
Same things happen when I open with Adobe Bridge CS3.

So, when K-7 released, will we be able to use it with Lightroom / Bridge?
If not, how soon Pentax/Adobe will release the update?

Thanks,

Doesn't it sound like what TAv mode does?

Isn't it what TAv mode does (scratching head)? Or am I missing something (Looking for missing parts somewhere on my body)?

Is the k-7's 3 year warranty Worldwide or only USA?

and will the new battery and grip be shipping at the same time as the K-7?
USA only and the grip should ship at the same time.

I was informed several weeks ago that our engineers sent the necessary samples to both Adobe and Apple so the K-7 can be supported. I don't know how long their processes take, but they have what they need to make their software compatible.

Hi John, is it possible to pre-order the grip? I can't seem to find it on the pentax webstore.
