8 years and 40 000 shots later and the camera still works flawlessly.

FWIW, the shutter on my K10D failed at the 28357 mark.

Mine failed at ~16000. I think that's a record. But...I've given it new life with a M42 lens and a dedicated B/W mode. It's better than a paperweight.

Without firing up the backup drives, I can't give the actual shutter count when my K10D began to freeze up randomly, but I still have 31,701 images on file. Knowing my save rate, that would probably be somewhere between 40,000 and 50,000. The LightRoom catalog still shows the pix, but with "file not found" notations.
