I already posted these in another threadů but whatever. Not the best examples of high ISO shots, but shows what you get out of a K-7 at ISO 3200 without any PP what so ever.

The only illumination was lit candles. No problems at all focusing with a DA 35 Limited.

This was shot through several inches of glass--Boston Aquarium. The tank was heavily airated as well, with murky water. In camera noise reduction set to lowest setting.

K20d, Tamron 90mm DI f 2.8, ISO 3200, 1/100th, f5, No PPing, just Raw conversion w downsizing.

And here is the %100 Crop

After all the talk about the dxomark ratings for various cameras, let's put some of this into perspective by getting another round of high ISO shots from various cameras.

Here's a shot from last night taken with my very middle-of-the-road (in dxomark terms) K200D. It's the push-processed equivalent of ISO 6400: shot two stops underexposed at ISO 1600, brightened two stops in ACDSee Pro 3, with what I deemed an appropriate amount of NR applied in the RAW processing (no special Ninja-type software used):

Newbie enjoying his K-x.

No tripod, ISO 5000, F/4.5, 1/5 sec, and the pic is still pretty sharp. I can't believe it.

Nice! Ever notice, though, how much McCoy Tyner these days looks like Gollum from the Lord of the Rings movies?

You know, with the advent of the K-x, it strikes me that this thread is unfair to other cameras Crazy high ISO shots with this thing!

I wouldn't have gotten the Tamron 500mm mirror lens if I didn't have the K-x high ISO to help me with shutter speeds, cause shooting with the 2X converter at 1000mm I can't afford to drop the ISO to something the K10d would have needed.

Children's moon, 1000mm, iso 128,000, 1/320th, hand held, almost no PP. A wee bit glow-y from the hand held, but I'm amazed I got the shot at all, as it was late evening

Same evening, 1000mm, iso 6400, 1/4000th, hand held. This photo is processed a bit more, primarily for contrast and color. Mark Sabatella said it well on page 1 of the thread - I suppose some would want to see "direct from the camera" results only, but frankly, I don't care so much about that - I care about what results are *possible*, not just what results are *automatic*. I'm happy to bring the most out of a photo in PP that I can - if the digital information is in there, it's real
