K20D Birthday 50 mm f 2.0

I took this about year ago with my ancient manual 50 mm f2.0 1/10 sec ISO 3200 (The lens originally came with my K1000 30 years ago) It was taken at a 1st birthday party and the only source of light was the candle. I was still new to the K20D and was trying to see what I could do.

First picture is as taken.

The second is Black and White with some cropping and processing.

Some recent ones. My K-7 could not in its wildest dreams make these indoor shots with crazy shadows and light glaring to through the windows...

K20D, ISO3200 and Topaz denoize 4.1 on its mildest default setting

Piano recital

Taken with my K200D and DA 18-250. 1600 iso, 1/30", f5.6, lens at 130mm.
I re-sized the camera jpeg to 1900 X 1277, no other tweaking.

K-x at ISO 4000, f1.7, 30 second exposure. Yes, it was pretty darn close to total darkness.

Full-resolution

Just messing around after I saw the cool light coming through the trees above my head (it's actually from car headlights on the opposite side of a gorge, about a mile away). In the LR3 beta I tweaked the exposure and colors, NRed it to near-smoothness, and then added in a whole bunch of grain (because I like LR grain). Also added a slight purple tint to some of the foliage with the adjustment brush so there would be more interesting gradations. It certainly isn't anything you would call detailed, but I kinda like it.

Something a little different. Using the High ISO abilities of the K-x to allow me to capture 300mph cars at night with high shutter speeds and the 55-300.

Bristol NHRA night Racing. DFine Noise reduction and a bit of PP in aperture.

ISO 1600

Nicely done! The great thing with the K-x is that you can still use that 55-300 and get decent results.

Bit of a curve, boosted the contrast, and resized (oh, and vignette). No other PP. Shot just tonight. This little guy was found by my 5 year old in the yard. He slithered under one of our pine trees. This was just before sunset, so it was pretty dark in there. Had to put on the 50mm 1.7 to get enough light, and still bumped the ISO to 3200. SS 1/13

Pentax K-x, 300 mm, ISO 4000, 1/100 sec, f5.8, --0.3 EV. I shot this hand held through some glass at the zoo. Loving the low light ability of the K-x.
