Marc, that's crazy but good. I've started using my K200D again for concerts and it works great. One thing that you do that I do not is use manual lenses which makes your job more difficult. Well done.
Thanks! Actually, it's difficult in some ways, easier in others. Much easier to focus an MF lens manually that to focus an AF lens manually, so for the many situations where AF can't be relied on to focus on the performer rather than an instrument or some other object, or when it won't focus fast enough, an MF lens is preferable. Also tracking motion is easier with an MF lens. And of course, trying getting an AF telephoto lens that is f/2.8 or better for less than $100... nothing easy about that! And if you're shooting anything slower than f/2.8, that's definitely making the job far harder.

Thanks for the information. I usually shoot raw+. I use Photoshop elements 6.0 to process the raw images. I will try more pushing in the future. I don't shoot a whole lot of low light situations but I hope to start shooting more of that in the future. Thanks again for the information! This is the best web site for photographic help! I really appreciate it.

OK, saw NEWMIKEY's really great K5 ISO 12,800 photo. You know me, I felt challenged. Here's my KX at ISO 12,800 with +1.7 EV and pushed 1/2 a stop in post. I shot in RAW and cleaned slightly in LR3.

ISO32000 on the K-5 can clean up pretty well.

Not too many cameras around that even reach that high on the ISO scale.

Pentax K100d Super with the DA* 50-135. Shot at 50mm, wide open, ISO 3200.

Pretty sure I added a little NR through Lightroom.
