K5. ISO 8000

Thatīs not much noise. However, the reds are blown and shift to magenta. I suggest, that you try again with less gain (+/- contrast all down to -4) and compensate with the EV0+4 steps=EV:1.3 Then I think, that you will get an even better result? Regards

Excuse me if it is out of topic, but I'm thinking about upgrading my K20D to K7. Is K7 handles noise better (even just a bit better) than K20D?

Hi Minahasa, I had both, the K20D is better than the K7, the K7 will hold up to ISO 800, the K20D up to ISO 1600, with flash they are both the same, color wise the K7 is better. The speed and the viewfinder and the LCD screen is much better, it is also a little bit lighter and easier to handle. I still have the K7 as a back-up, I broke my 2 K20D, I do miss sometimes the manly body but wouldn't trade back for my K5. why don't you buy a K5 instead?

At the same time, a low-light AF-C test and high-iso test
1/250th
F4.5
DAL 50-200
ISO 16000, considering the exposure correction applied in camera raw

ISO 6400, minimal tweakage done in Lightroom. Shot with an old Sears 50mm f/1.7. 1/500 seconds
I probably could easily of shot this twice as slow with half the ISO, but I didn't for whatever reason.

The bokeh is done in software, of course hehehe

This was the best out of a series shot that I took with K5 at different exposure compensation settings , K5 has a tendancy to blow out the reds to magenta anyway , I haven't tweaked the colors just denoised it in LR slightly . I'm actually quite happy the way it turned out , so no need to try again

Found this fellow behind the curtain this afternoon , placed him on the bench to take shots of him.

..it (K7) will do fine at 1600 and OK even at 3200 with the right tweaks. See my night shot at page 86 please. Regards
