Pentax K-30, Sigma 150-500 @ 500mm

ISO 25,600, 1/50 sec. Shot about 20-30 minutes after sunset, handheld.

Some post processing in Lightroom.

Can't remember whether I was using the in-camera or in-lens stabiliser, but whichever it was it seems to have worked.

Been meaning to dig up a shot or two for this thread for awhile, never remembered it...so...

This was taken the day I got the K30, 200mm Vivitar M42 lens, late evening and low light, file name says it's shot # 31. IS0 3200, I think I had high ISo noise reduction off.

This one is way noisy, I don't usually show it off, but it was taken a couple of minutes later just to check out what ISO 12800 would do...

Both are crops, but I don't remember how much I cropped them. I've slept since then...

I don't normally shoot above ISO 400, I can start to see noise above that but I wanted to see how the K30 handled high ISO and low light. In better lighting conditions it seems to do a lot better, but if I have enough light to shoot a low ISO like 200, why bother...

Lightning Strikes

Hopefully this is the beginning of the annual monsoons here in AZ. A small lightning display in the far southeast valley of the Phoenix metro area. I managed to get over to Gilbert's Riparian Preserve to try my hand at capturing a lightning strike. This is probably the best shot I got. I changed the WB and applied a little bit of NR in Lightroom. This was taken with a K-5iis at ISO 2500, f/9, for 63s.

Iso 51200

Just a quick hand held test snapshot at 51200 to see what the K5 would do.

I could have given it more sanp and pop and brought out the shadows more but i wanted to retain how it really looked to the naked eye.
Not really useful at this ISO except if you must get something for the record type of shot.
BTW at this light level the AWB was way off with a strong red cast.
Just curious to see how far I could push that sensor...
