holy shit! you have a super nice K100D, mine has an explicit banding line in 1/3 of the way in.

I was actually after that look. I have a more clean looking image at home. This particular image I took with the intent of making it black and white for a thread on another site.

Thanks for the comment... After I read it, I thought well that really is too clean for ISO 3200 so I tried to check the EXIF to see if I was remembering correctly or if I was full of shite... but the exif had been stripped...

So I went back and found two versions with Exif.

Honestly this is the best I have ever seen my K100 look at ISO 3200... My darn K20 does not look this clean. I have always got decent ISO 1600 my K100 but this night the light was pretty low and I only had the Tammy 28-75, so 2.8 was my limit. I had shot some flash shots and then as the set was ending I went to ISO 3200 and fired off a few.
These are JPEG's with no extra noise reduction in PP other than resize...
Here they are with exif intact... K100d - ISO 3200

And a B&W... usually the color looks like crap at ISO 3200 but this one works better than the b&w I think.

Sorry for the re-post but I wanted the EXIF in the shot.

couple from last night..

general observation is taht Dynamic Range goes out the window, high DR scenes, or even scenes with bright highlights, you can pretty much expect to get burn outs (or settles for lots of black)

K20D + FA31

ISO 2000, F2.8, 1/25

ISO3200, F2.0, 1/15

ISO6400, F1.8, 1/10th

pretty much the limit of my equipment right there....

I like they way noise renders in black and white: ISO 1600, straight out of the camera, B&W custom image, contrast at +4.

stumbled on this while going through my archive

i didnt realize it was ISO 6400!

i had to do a black and white conversion because the colour noise and blue tint in the corner was just too much

also you can clearly see the banding

but god i love this photo!

FA43, ISO 6400, F2.2, 1/15s

Really good rendering. I had no idea I could get that IQ straight out of the camera. I tried it out these exact settings (first time I've used jpeg on the new K20) and way stunned by the results with only minimal processing to lift some shadows. Thanks for sharing,
Brian

Got the Vivitar 24mm f2.8 for $79. Very nice lens for the money. Night club with K2000, ISO 2500.

Crowd shots 5Dm2 at 5000 iso f5.6
Portrait shots K10d 50-135mm at 2.8 and 800iso

K10, 28-70mm star at 2.8 and 50-135mm at 2.8 and 800 iso

Shot in RAW, and processed in Lightroom, no post processing, don't have time for that and would only do it for shots I'd sell to my agencies.
Most band pics are at 800 iso minimum.
