Pentax High ISO Gallery - post here

I took this shot of the July 4 water ski show just before sundown (8:17 pm) with a Sigma 70-300 at 190mm, f5.6, ISO 1600, and 1/90 shutter speed. The SR really came through on this one.

Quick snaps inside a very dimly lit meat market
IS0 3200

About a 50% crop or so.

Another heavy crop.

Yet another crop.

No crop on this one.

Love the framing, her expression and the grain.. Plus it is sharp. Look at those eye lashes. Looks like a Magazine ad photo from the 60's...

Are all those of the LA Farmer's Market? We lived in West Hollywood for a umber of years about 3mi from there...always loved a trip on the RTD down to it...

Great shots BTW...

Thank you. I am a bit bummed in that the K20D is out performing my K-7 though when it comes to noise control.

That seems to be the consensus about the K7 vs the K20.

I hope it is something Pentax can improve via firmware. If it is a problem tied to the hardware directly that the firmware can't improve, that would be a big pity.

These RAW samples illustrate the point: the K20 output is visibly cleaner than the K7 all the way up the ISO scale:

Thank you, I will take a look at those. I am also quite bummed in that today, I noticed my K-7 is showing that dreaded green line....I hope they can fix that via firmware.

Look at that link the K20 definately looks cleaner but looking at the scale with the numnber 30, the K7 shows the 30 much better.

It's very strange but I've found when I first started using the K7 the images seemed a bit more noisier, after having it for nearly 2 months and giving it a decent amount of use I am find noise is a lot less appartent. I have 3 possible theories:

1. I'm imagining it.
2. The camera has been broken/run in. It's a known phenomena with electronic goods is they need a run in period. Who's to say the camera isn't any different?
3. I am better at using the camera.

Is it just me, or is the D300 just flat our wrong with the way it is rendering part of the yellow bottle? Look at the highlight area lower right part of the crop on the left edge of the bottle. The Nikon has inverted it (or something). What's up with that?

Well at least I am not getting the green line.

I exposed my camera for 73mins and no lines.

Only I am encountering comes up on videos under certain lighting conditions, but so far nothing under regular stills, even after LONG exposures.
