Sensor "Changes"

There were 'pre-production' and now there are production cameras. The pre-production cameras apparently had varying sensors as the cameras were hand-made. Every camera you will be able to buy has the latest sensor, which of course, is different from the pre-production sensors. Of course the sensor has changed, but all sensors in camera's available for sale, there will be no differences between them. They will be improved from those used in pre-production cameras.

Congrats Frank. Enjoy the camera. If I were you I'd take a break from taking comparison photos of the same object 20 different times and just go out enjoy the new camera and take some real world photos and play with the options and report back in a few days.

Thanks again guys

After playing the camera for a short while, I don't see much different between this one and the testing version w/ V1.0 firmware upgraded, at least I don't see big improvement in functionality or IQ. But I don't wanna compare them side by side, no point I guess.

Since I've done enough test on the pre production K-7, I'm not gonna do the same thing all over again. It's not my type anyway. Hope you guys understand. There are enough tests done by some guys here, or elsewhere.

Frank,I like the pictures of the new "toy" in and out of the box. Makes me feel it's Chistmas...I'm waiting for THAT Xmas to come to me too

Just one short question: how do you like the viewfinder? That's one of the main features that attracts me very much.

Thanks, András
The best feature for the new viewfinder is its 100% coverage. You don't need to worry about cropping away unwanted part from a photo Other than that, I don't see much difference from the previous ones on K10D and K20D.

I'm afraid I can't. You'll get one in your K-7 box

As Mr. The Guy said above, there was no such thing about CMOS change. The CMOS sensor on the production camera is slightly different from the one on pre production camera, and Pentax already claimed so when they sent out the testing camera. Somehow this has been spread as CMOS change during the mass production, which is not true.

Thanks. That's the plan, no more testing photos except my own style of shooting

The new camera is already available for purchase here in our local shop, cash price: $1799SGD (about $1245USD). You can get it in most major camera shops now. If you are asked for more (and yes, some salesman do ask for higher price for travelers), just bargain and tell them that's the highest price you'd pay

If you wanna know more detailed info about our local camera shops and where to buy K-7, you can send me a PM

Oh, and welcome to Singapore btw, you'd love it here.

BTW, I see you also got the W80? I personally have the W60. I don't remember whether you had the W60 as well, but it would be interesting to see a comparison between those two as well. Esp IQ wise.

Wim
Sorry Wim, the only Pentax DC I have is the very first Optio S, and it's still working after 6 years of use. Can't tell how the W80 compare w/ W60. But looks it's a better camera on paper

I sent you a PM btw
