Hey you guys, I am stuck on the pricing. I am on a budget and do not want to waste so many.

I want my first DSLR but I am stuck on money right now. Is the K2000 with the kit 18-55mm lenses only (No flash) that costs $414 better on the pricing than the K200D that costs 566 with the kit 18-55mm lenses?

Also I heard that the K200D has some slow AF, I know that AF doesn't matter much but I am just wondering, how much faster is the AF on the K2000 than the K200D? Or are they about the same?

Also is there anything else I would need to know? Any problems with any camera, like bugs or defects?

Some would say K2000 and some K200D.
Weigh out what you would like in a cam.
K2000 has faster AF, not that K200D's is slow, and is just as good a cam with regards to results.
K200D's got the top LCD and a nice interface. No bugs to note of.
Have you tried them out in store yet? I'd suggest to do so to see which one fits nicely in your hands, and how you like the interfaces.

I'd personally go for the K2000 for the swifter performance and better value in price. A very capable and widely-talked-about camera. But you wouldn't go wrong with the K200D either.

i have k-m and sometimes wish i had the k200d only because it is weather sealed.

before they didnt have any cheap sealed lenses and now with the new 18-55 and 50-200 wr lenses, this seems like an awesome cheap combo you could take in the rain.

I could definitely trade-off weather sealed body for quicker AF. And yeah Ash is right, the K2000 still probably has support since it's newer. The K200D is out of production so I don't know.

How is the image quality comparison on both cameras?

I have no idea what that is. I'm a total noob at DSLR's and this is going to be my first one.

I have K200D for 8-9 months, arr. 9k shots, no problems with it so far. Very pleased with it.
Top LCD is usefull, wheather sealing allowed me to shoot in rain with no chills, strong construction.
AF is very fast with a bright lens like f2,8 or 1,4. Hunting inside with f3,5-5,6.
Some say it's the closest relative to K20.
You can't choose the AF point with K2000.

But that midget is eye-catcher, I say.

Thanks you guys, I guess I'll sway more over to the K200D side now. I am hoping to buy the camera tomorrow. I'm trying to find the cheapest prices but looks like Adorama, B&HPhoto, and Amazon are all selling it at the same price of 566

You might want to take a look to the marketplace....
if your budget is tight sometimes you find cameras in a very good shape for cheap... and that would leave you some money for a fast lens 50mm...

I have one last question, the K200D has problems Autofocusing in low light, did they fix that with the K2000?

*All* cameras have trouble with AF in low light. Some add a focus assist lamp to partially sidestep the problem (light isn't so low any more!), but neither the K200D nor K2000 have one. The AF system of the K2000 has been "tweaked" in some way to make low light focus better, but it's still unlikely to match a camera with a AF assist lamp.

WTF. I just checked Amazon again and they jacked up the price of the K200D to 591, it was 566 this morning.. Wierd. Plus that 1 left in stock is gone and now it says restock in 1-2 months.
