K20d Firmware 1.03 !!!!!!!!!

OK...using v1.01 the pre-flash focus assist light does work in AF.C but not AF.S....can someone with v1.03 verify it still works in that version?

EDIT: I flashed back to v1.03 and yes the flash-focus assist does work in AF.S but not AF.C I am OK with that but I did not find any reference in the manual that states how the flash-assist functions in the two modes.

No!

Check your Live View, does it make a sound that it didn't do before?
Auto Focus doesn't work in Live View either.

Gary,

AF works for me in Live View an the flash-assist will fire in LV as long as I have the mode set to AF.S. I don't hear any noise I remember as different, but remember I am only a bit over a week with the camera. So, it would be easy for me to miss something, but to me it sounds the same.

Did ya try the old trick of removing the battery in-case the system vapor-locked in some fashion? I know that is a stooopid grasping at straws thing, but stranger things have happened.

Sans that working maybe flash back to v1.01?

Just spit-balling ideas is all...this stinks for ya!!

At last check so did Pentax Japan (english version -- link is in a post above)...but if it is still up in those countries, why would they pull it from the US site? It seems odd to me...

Maybe the link above is busted (I din't check) but I just looked at the Pentax US site again and they have v1.03 back up...maybe there was a server goof? I was also able to d/l the firmware...

Unfortunately it seems isolated at the moment to the extent that it would be hard to prove it's the firmware, we only have suspicion.

sorry to hear about your problems I've nothing with my K20D and v1.03. Look on the bright side if v1.03 has got problems with it we should get a v1.04 and if Pentax is felling generous they might sort some of the other thing out like 'dark frame'.
