Seems like something that would be easy enough (in concept, anyway) for Pentax to implement in firmware.

I don't really know of any precedence or anything, so how strongly does Pentax respond to pressure from its customers?
What or who would be the best channel to direct these pressures at?

One of the reasons why I like the K20 is the tethering capability. The software utility for the PC works, but leaves a lot to be desired. I wish that Pentax would slide back the USB tethering interface back into the camera and just publish an API and let the open source world support it. Or, to kick things off, release the remote assistant source to open source.

just my 2 cents worth....

Yeah, I know it's a relatively old topic, but still i'd like to add something for googlers accidentally getting here (even more cause no one posted a solution (otherwise than hdmi output)):

As you may prodably have heard, there is a wlan capable SD card on the market

Eye-Fi memory cards: wireless photo and video uploads straight from your camera to your computer & the web.

I still haven't bought&tested it though. One of possible obstacles would be the fact that k-7 is magnesium alloy.

If it would automatically send photos via wlan to a specified location, then all you would have to do is set up an automatic import in lightroom on that location and voilla, you have a tethered wireless setup for pentax k-7.

K7 and Tethering

Go here: PK_Tether | Tethering and remote control software for Pentax DSLR cameras

I loaded on my laptop and it worked. Just keep in mind this is freeware and it is at your own risk.

Happy Clicking!!!
