I too have the K100D and just received the K2000/KM. I experienced the same frustrations when I compare pictures from these two cameras with the same settings indoors (evenings) using my Tamron 28-75mm lens. I only shoot jpegs.

With the K100D, my default setting was iso 400 since the camera constantly underexposes. With the K2000, like my canon G10, I can't go above iso 200. Still experimenting to achieve sharp pictures at iso 400. Using the manual mode, the K2000 overexposes compared to the K100D which gets it right on.

I also found that the K2000 on auto iso, at least indoors, is another problem as the camera keeps selecting iso 800. On the positive side, the camera shutter is quite snappy.

I think people are right. The actual amount of noise is magnified by viewing more closely. At the same time, when viewed at printing size, you will find the noise equivalent between the K100 and K2000. If you really want total control, you are best shooting in raw and deciding what level of noise reduction (if any) you want to use for a given photo. The reality is a little grain in a picture is not a bad thing and may not detract from the overall effect.

I think turning off shadow compensation and turning up the Noise Reduction helps.
