1:1.7 50mm is not working with k100d

Hello,

I've just received from ebay an old smc pentax manual lense 1:1,7 50mm, it fits perfectly on my pentax k100d, but camera is not working... Just "Av" sign is blinking on lcd screen... What might be the problem? Or these lenses just doesn't work on dslr cameras (I i was not clever enough to find this out before buying lense

)

Check to make sure you have the use lenses off the A position (or words to that effect) enabled in the menu.
