Actually I am pretty sure the package advertised does not include the battery grip. (Nor the 55mm 1.4 SDM either, for that matter).

$1999 is just the RRP for the K7 + the 18-55mm kit, I think.

That's certainly all you get for that price from Teds Camera Store if you look at their site:

No discounting from Ted's on the K7 RRP yet, by the look of it.

Need to go elsewhere for that, or wait awhile.

Its a great deal if you want the lens ...with the battery grip included you are looking at either the lens or the battery grip free.

I am about to order the battery grip and going by this deal I would have been better off getting it. I got my K- 7 camera body only from Teds after placing a pre order a couple of months ago

I think you'll find the ** footnote only denotes how they calculate the 100 dust and weather seals.

What is included in the $1999 price is what is written in fine print on the voice balloon where the price is. It's a bit hard to read, but I don't see mention of a grip in there, only lens details.

It's hard to tell, but in the red bubble containing the price I'm certain it says "$1999* with Pentax 18-55mm...(something)... AL WR"

I'm certain the * is referring to the price being available at participating retailers, while the ** is referring to the weatherproof items. Their mistake was to put "or" between the two lenses.

This information matches the price at Teds, and the general sale price at most other retailers, so it makes some sense.

Anyway. We won't know until we can see it in more detail. I wouldn't get excited just yet though.

Upon reflection, and looking at the ad closer, I think if you look at the $1999 roundel what it effectively is saying is just that the K7 is '$1999 at participating dealers, with the Pentax 18-55mm WR lens'.

I agree with abraham_love that the second ** is just clarifying that the weather seal count of >100 = 77 for the camera, + the additional seals in the battery pack or the lenses.

So there is no package deal here that includes the battery grip and your choice of WR lens, alas. All we are seeing is the RRP of the K7 + the standard Pentax 18-55 kit lens. So no news here. Move along everybody

The Pentax marketing droids who put this ad together would have done better to leave out the ** bit and the bumpf about the 100 seals. What's wrong with juts mentioning that the body alone has 77 seals?
