We're getting closer to the holiday season... Does anyone think we'll see a price drop on the K7 in time for Christmas shopping?

Or at least a kit with a lens included?

if canon announces the rumored 7d next week, that should bring the k-7's price down a bit. competition.

C'mon guys. No camera has the K-7's features set other than the D300s. (except for a few minor things like styling and what not)

I doubt the K-7 will drop in price. In fact, I guess it will only STAY at the price it is until the successor comes out. Seriously, the K20D was $1200 at release and the D300 was $1800. The D300 went down $200 and the K20D $600. Now they release the K-7 which has more features than the D300 for $300 less... D300s only added movie mode and SD slot.

I don't know if it was posted but still might be interesting for Canadians:

1299$ for the body at NewEgg.CA which is just about 300$ less than most retail shops sell it for right now... Though I'll still wait till it gets to the 600$ point... I'm broke...

K7 price just dropped in Hong Kong - although it's not much it could be an indicator of things to come!

Best retail price now is HKD8550 = USD1104

(P.S. You can get the K7 without a warranty in HKG for USD1006)

I walked into a camera shop last Saturday to take a look at this K-7. I already had two K20D's and had not intention of buying the K-7, I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

When I first picked it up I was impressed with how it felt for being so small. When I saw the new menu system I knew I was not looking at a mere tweak to the K20. When I saw how fast it focused I was amazed. When I heard how quiet the shutter was I just about came unglued.

I bought it. I love it. I was going to wait until the price dropped, but am glad I got it.

Same here. I was gonna buy the K20D, I waited and waited and waited, until it reached $699, then I was set for it. But the k7 rumours were heating up and I found I couldn't get the K20D anymore knowing there would be a much better body right around the corner. When I bought the K7 the K20D was ~$569 in BHphoto, but I'm happy I paid double that for the K7 instead! It rocks (got it today

Amazon.com has the K-7 at $1280 now directly from them.

Not much movement, but it's encouraging as it's the first crack in the unified MSRP front that the major US retailers have had since launch. Has Amazon fired the frist shot in a price war? Let's hope so!

(Also, one of Amazon's Marketplace resellers--Electronica Direct--has it for $1250. It's not Adorama or any of the other well-respected camera shops, but they have a lot of high reseller ratings, so probably aren't a Brooklyn scam-era shop.)

B&H still had the camera at MSRP at noon EDT today. But since then, they've lowered it to $1280.95 to effectively match Amazon.

Down to $1278.88 at Amazon. If it keeps dropping a dollar per day, It'll be under $1000 by June. =)

It's also $1250 on Cameta Camera's listing on the Amazon Marketplace. I'm not inclined to buy from them myself, but there you go.
