How do you know something is Open Box in Amazon ?, is there a separate web site for open box items ?, I've never seen an open box item in the normal Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more site

You can find the listings on the main site in the marketplace section of the listing, or just check the below website directly from time to time. For example, if you search Pentax, you'll see the aforementioned K7, amongst others. Deals can vary from outstanding to nothing special.

Nope, not sure what gave you that impression. I've been eyeing it though--still a bit too pricey for me considering how happy I am with my K200.

Got it, sorry for the confusion.

I paid for mine $1,050 Brand New - Sealded, not a huge difference to $999 to risk for an open box, at least my approach.

Buydig.com also has it for $1049 with an extended 2 year warranty.
With Bing/Ebates Cashback and it takes it down to $1010. Not bad considering the warranty is usually sold for at least $50

Nice find for using the Bing cashback thing. As for the extra 2-yr warranty extension costing $50 not any more. You can find them on Amazon usually around $13-$20. I posted links earlier here:

Wow, Didn't know that about the extended warranty. That's pretty cool.
The K7 with the 18-55mm lens kit is also sold at $1099 but seems to have only a one year warranty. I am wondering if it is the 18-55mm WR though as it could be a previous lens model.

Yeah, I was surprised about the warranties as well...last July when I bought my K20D from Amazon and it did not have the +2 warranty card I found that Willoughby's had them on Amazon for...$3.99...so, I bought one soon as I could push the buy button!! I did not want to wait for Pentax to come through with a card or whatever and then never did respond to my email. I bought duing the free +2yr warranty period as well....but for the $4 (with free shipping too!!) I was not to bummed.

About the kit you found...not sure, but hey, even if it is NOT the WR kit lens, sell it for $50 and consider than another $50 off the cost of the body. I did that with my 40D body last year and ended up that the body with a +3yr extension warranty cost me $829 and I sold it this summer for $765...$65 for a year's use was a pretty good deal I think??

They seem to be creeping down to my $899 "resistance is futile" price point...except for the fact my vehicle as bashed in a hit-and-run on Friday night at about 9:20PM...luckily there were two witnesses and one got the license plate and called the cops. Still I am cranky...hahahaha....so lower prices make me smile a bit!!

K-7 body just dropped to 1029 on Amazon! Too bad I bought mine from Newegg at 1049, but at least it came with a free Pentax SLR sling bag to compensate.
