K-7 Raw on Linux

Hey guys,

If you use the K-7 and have tried working with raw in linux, you might have noticed that you get a black band on the right side of the picture.

This is a known problem with dcraw. It will be fixed in the next version.

I should add that this only affects DNG files. PEF should be fine.

Actually, K-7 PEFs are simply not recognized by the current dcraw release. Dave Coffin has produced a patch (using a PEF & a DNG that I sent him) that will be implemented full K-7 support in the next dcraw release.

I will also send the WB preset values to the UFRaw developpers tonight, in anticipation of their integration of the next dcraw release.

Hey, how do you get the WB preset values?

The current version of UFRaw (at least from CVS) can read the K-7 DNGs, albeit with a black band at one edge of the image. After loading a DNG (shot with a given WB preset) and choosing "Camera WB" in the UFRaw interface, the corresponding channel multipliers can be seen in Options -> Configuration (documented on the UFRaw web site: UFRaw - Contribute)

Note that by default, the K-7 can auto-fine-tune the preset WB settings, so I assume it is best to set custom setting "11. White balance adjustable range" to "Fixed" before doing this sort of thing. At least, that's what I did...

The patch I submitted to add the K-7 WB presets to the current UFRaw CVS checkout can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&group_id=127649&atid=709089

Hey, what's the current situation with the K-7 PEFs, is there a release of dcraw that is compatible with them? At the moment with rawtherapee 2.4 I need to shoot DNG to get correct colors.

The CVS version of UFRaw has full support (PEF & DNG with WB presets) for the K-7 since this morning.

Sadly, this crashes on startup for me...

[No source code, so it's a bit hard to debug, but the error message suggests somebody is trying to free something which was allocated on the stack... !]
