For the K7 owners: question about mechanical sound within body

Dear Pentaxians
Today i have received my K7.
Now I have a question.
On the camera body, you try to turn it upside down in all directions several times: from within the body comes a mechanical sound as if something is moved. Is it normal?

Since the sensor can move around inside the body, I'd presume that's normal. I've also heard it.

My K20D did the same. Not sure if it was the sensor, or something else.

The K10 does the same thing, it's the image sensor.

To facilitate shake reduction the sensor is mounted on a plate which "floats" freely (within limits of course) until shake reduction kicks in and holds it in place.

It's definitely the sensor moving due to SR - search the forum for "sound", "noise", "clunk", "rattle", and simialr terms, and you'll see about a thread a week on this question ever since the K100D (first Pentax mdoel with SR) came out several years ago. Perfectly normal.

Enhanced Shake Reduction. The Pentax K7's Shake Reduction unit adds several features over those of earlier models, including the ability to correct for rotational motion.

I found the noise very apparent in Live View, but have never noticed it otherwise.

My guess is, when using the viewfinder, one is much more stable at the time of focusing.

Nothing to worry about here, just the camera doing it's job.
