video control woul be great

QuoteOriginally posted by em-tx Quote
Hi all,
I am trying to muster info about hacks for K5. (I am getting one in couple of days, despite I wanted K5IIs).
I love it as still camera, not using lot of AF. What bothers me is the video capability.
I would like to have manual control over video setting and possibly break time limitation.
Is there any progress or chance? Info over web is quite spare.
Thanks.
Manual video control would make the original k5 a great camera.
For me it's only thing the canon 7d outperforms the k5.

Its difficult to understand than "best APS - C" do not have manual set for video or alternative ways like 5D MII or GH2. Is there possibility to inspire someone to help? If its really about software solution to control video manually, than?

I just try to decrypt KR 1.12 FW but i don't know how use frmcrypt.exe .

I try this i found for K5 : frmcrypt.exe FWDC209B.BIN 11.dat (change FWDC208B.BIN to the firmware name of my KR )

But when i open with Hex editor i think it's not good or it's necessary to modify to use IDA .

Thanks if anyone can help .

Pentax Hacks...

How is it going on with Hacking the Pentax Firmware?
Did you make any progress? Already heard of other Pentaxians who tried to hack their darling?

Would be really cool if we could stand up with our own hack against the "magic Lantern" hack.

Deluminator would be a cool name(though it could carry bad kharma)

It's going about as well as whatever Pentax firmware hack you are personally working on... Welcome to the board.
(I could be wrong and somebody may be working on something, but if they are, then I am mad that I don't know about it!)

I see a post : How to deactivate SDM and allow for screw drive autofocus with DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 - Le site des amateurs de PENTAX

So i think some people know where find this information .

Thanks

I think you are talking about EEPROM, not firmware in post.

My tool for decryption of firmware is at pentax-tool [Personal View FAQs Wiki]

Otherwise invite to http://www.personal-view.com , we can discuss stuff.

I just happened to have some stuff that i think can be used for your project:
GX10 service software + manual
Almost all pentax and samsung service manuals
Some service manuals for AF film cameras, not very useful, I guess, but might be interesting
Sorry, but right now I have no time to upload it to another file hosting.
Just enter the confirmation code (right side) and click the button below.

How exactly is your lack of language skills other people's problem?

tr13 thanks for reply

I use your tools for decrypt firmware and use frmodule.zip from pentax hack to use with IDA but i don't know Fujitsu processor of the KR .

It's very hard to know what it's possible to modify to enable that i say :

Menu Photo 3 : Lens Correction

Menu Photo 4 : Input Focal Length

And i don't know if KR have memory space to enable Lens program like K5 .

Thanks

I didn't say it was anyone's problem. I merely commented on the broken links and that they lead to sites where the language is not the language used on this forum.

If someone is going to place links that are intended to contribute to the discussion, then they should maintain those links, so they continue to contribute to the discussion.

And English is the language used here.

So at the very least a link to a non-English page should also have a means to translate that page.

Simple common courtesy.

i have a pentax experimental camera with no labelling as to which model it is, Its firmware reads as PENTAX K-M, VER: 0.10 (Not 1.0), on opening the the camera i found it to be having a K-x mainboard ( https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/272846-i-th...-firmware.html ) , it does not take either of these modset: Km : MODSET.464, Kx: MODSET.492.
I see that version check reading can be changed, update reads version check to permit an update, can someone help me how to make the version read as PENTAX K-X, VER: 1.00
