thanks for the easy link download.
It's great to see such a fast response from Pentax.

Maybe they were hearing a lot of K7 returns.
That could have been money in the bank and new customers in the Pentax fold too, but if the K7 is being returned then something must be definitely wrong with it and this firmware upgrade is a welcome change to bring back the customers.
The K7 is already a great camera, all it needs are minor tweaks..like tethering!
I wonder how they could have missed tethering!

Don't know if it is already there or not, but is there a way to disable SDM in one of the menu options ? If not, it would be nice to add this to the list for future firmware updates.

After spending a few somewhat disappointing weeks with the K-7 this update as in the latest for the K20D, did more for the cam than Pentax led on. It fixed a few bugs in it all together and yesterday produced its best results yet...I am quite happy with it now.

Just updated my K7, and looking forward to putting it through the paces later today.

Interested in what your findings other than the AF were.

Just a quick one;

Since updating to 1.01, has anyone noticed a delay to preview in anything other than 'green' ??

Take a shot in Green and I get a preview almost immediately.
Take a shot in Sv, Tv, Av, etc... and I get a 3 (or so) second delay before the preview is displayed..

Anyone else getting this? I'm now questioning whether the delay was there before 1.01?

Thanks!

Check whether you have accidentally set Distortion or CA correction in between.
A few other post processing settings e.g. Shadow correction, Highlight correction can impose lesser but noticeable delays in the Preview.

As far as I can see , the preview works exactly the same way after updating to V 1.01

Hi JGredline, looks like you have spotted more things that have been fixed than announced, can you share your observations?

So, since Pentax is able/willing to even add new functions using firmware updates (new CF for K-7), I wonder why they refuse to solve more serious issues in older cameras, specifically inability to rurn off NR on K20D (if the camera freezes for many seconds after each night shot and I miss many pictures because of it, I consider it a serious bug).

My one gripe with the new firmware release is that it also signaled the end of any hope of further upgrade for the K20D.
This was the case with previous models once the new one came out.
