Verbatim and Transcend class 6 sdhc cards not fast enough for K-7 video

Hi

In the past I've always gone for cheaper class 6 cards and have had no issues with them. With the K-7 I of course shot some test video right away, but noticed I could only get about 1 minute of video before the buffer was full and recording stopped. Then a friend pointed out that Sandisk Ultra cards are faster than some class 6 cards, even though they're class 4 cards. I found an old 1gb Sandisk Ultra card that I used with the K100ds and it turns out I can record until the card is full. Off to buy 8gb Ultra or Extreme card I guess

then the advertized read/write specs at class 6 doesn't hold weight when you consider the manufacturer?
i have a class 6 8GB from Kingston, and running into same issues for video.
it stops just over a minute or recording time.
could it be a heating issue of the sensor as well?
manual does state that video recording would stop should the sensor overheat, but with no direct access to temperature info, it's hard to tell.

what experiences do others have with video recording and their SD card and of what class and make?

Same temperature with Sandisk Ultra card and only the card size was limiting the video lenght.

I have problems using an "Adata C6 16gb", but no problems with my Sandisk. My "Panasonic C6 4gb." gives me about 5 min. before it quits.

Class 6 cards only write a minimum speed of 6MB/s, but Sandisk Ultra II write speed is min 15MB/s, Extreme 30MB/s. The 1536 x 1024 video is about 4,5MB/s, which might mean that these class 6 cards don't even do 6MB/s.

I use Sandisk Extreme III SD cards that accept data at the rate of 20MB/second. Same for the PNY Optima Pro SD

the C6 A-DATASDHC has an ave write speed of 12MB/s and read of 22MB/s. sometimes it writes at around 6MB/s but not lower. that maybe the reason for the slow-downs or lags for it. you need atleast 30MB/s performance card for shooting videos or even pictures. I think A-DATA has a C10 SDHC already out in the market. I'm also considering getting one myself. the C6's that I have are insufficient for reviewing or viewing recently taken shots and quite takes awhile before the the buffer refreshes again. and I might just use the C6 that I have for backup. one for camera use (pictures and videos) and one backup for pc multimedia files and data files. the C10 would be my primary card for my camera.

Thanks for the information. Although I presently have a K10D I plan to eventually upgrade to the K7. This will keep me from buying media that will become obsolete.
