autofocus speed and SR - K2000 vs K20d 1.03

I understand the k2000 has(had?) faster low-light autofocus with less hunting due to algorithms, but looking through threads, the 1.03 update apparently helps out the k20d's autofocus in low light. How do these two compare now in that area? I know for screw-driven lenses, k20d is faster with its larger motor.

Also, the 1.03 update claims better SR with k20d. Does it have a better/bigger SR mechanism than the k2000 or does it have the same motor and just included the updates with the k2000? How do the two compare with SR?

edit: can this be moved to Pentax DSLR discussion?

I saw you had no replies yet so I thought I would jump in. I can only vouch for the K20d and I have no complaints about the auto focus speed in normal or low light. The camera had v1.03. Hope this helps you......

thank you, did you have the camera before the 1.03 firmware? How many stops do you find the SR to be?

Pentax only claimed an improvement to SR with v1.03 and made no mention of AF. Nevertheless, a number of people believed that the update also increased AF speed in their K20D's. Others (myself included) were unable to discern any difference after the change. To my knowledge, no one ever produced any quantitative data supporting a bump in AF rate.

i don't think there is any real proof that the 1.03 improves low light AF on the k20.
there have been a few reports, but not all users who upgraded reported any improvement in the low light AF.

I will say that after updating the firmware on my K20, I noticed a significant decrease in the hunting that my FA 50 had before in low light conditions. None of my other lenses changed at all. So, take that for what it's worth.

well, have you guys noticed improvement with SR since 1.03? Any comparisons with K2000's SR?

Can't vouch for the AF difference between the K20 and K2000, but the K2000 is significantly faster than my K10D in all conditions.

is it possible that thanks to the inproved SR the camera is simply able to lock focus more quickly because the target itself is more stable? So there might be a side effect of the sense of a faster AF.

Maybe a quicky test would be to shoot the same thing with SR on and off and see if the the focus hunts a bit more?.
