K7 issues writing to memory card

I tried shooting continuously today with my K7, but it can only shoot a few pictures before it stops and has to finish writing to the SDHC card. Using Raw, it will only shoot 4 pictures in a row before it has to stop and finish writing to the memory card. With JPEG, I can get 5 pictures. As I believe it should be able to do 40 JPEG images, I'll see if I can do an exchange of the camera. Unless someone has another suggestion...

I tested with three different SanDisk Extreme III cards, 8GB, 4GB, and 1GB. While they are not brand new, they work as expected in my K20d.

I normally use the single frame shooting mode, so I hadn't noticed the issue before. While I've been enjoying several things about the K7 compared to the K20d, it had seemed that it was taking a long time before I could review a picture on the LCD. In continuous mode, the issue was readily apparent.

(Isn't continuous one of those words that just looks like it is spelled wrong?)

I do not have a K-7 (yet) so I am just relaying previous threads possibly related to this. It seems that the automatic chromatic aberration correction slows everything down. Turn off the corrections in the menus and see if that speeds things up.

I missed the part where it says K-7 and was about to post "that's normal with K100D..."

Thanks - that was it. Once I disabled the Lens Correction functions, the writing speed was normal and so was continuous shooting. If either Lens Correction function, Distortion or lateral chromatic aberration, is enabled, the speed becomes crazy slow.

I previously missed where it stated in the manual that, "The shooting speed for continuous shooting may be slower when [Lens Correction] is set to (On)." IMHO, they are being quite modest when they just describe it as slower.

I'm using firmware 1.1. Has everyone else seen similar speed results with Lens Correction enabled? Is there actually a reason to enable it if I primarily shoot in Raw?

Same results. If you shoot RAW and enable the Lens correction, the camera still does the processing and saves the correction information. You have the option of using the correction or not during PP. May save time in PP, at the expense of slowing down the camera.

Probably easier to shoot RAW and not bother with this setting, and do distortion or CA correction with RAW processing software,
