K20D problems

I have never head of this problem but when I have the K20D hooked up to the 50-135(brand new) it will not work what so ever. It will not autofocus at all. When hooked up to some NON SDM lenses it will work, but seems to hunt quite a bit. Also when it finally wants to trigger it takes 3 pictures in a row. We have reset the camera settings and also disabled auto bracketing. Any ideas? Thanks so much.
Barry

It could be a lens issue. Did you get it via mail or local shop? Perhaps you need to try another lens that has sdm to verify whether or not its the body if you got it at a shop.

Edit: Or are you the rental shop?

Take a small piece of mylar or duct tape and cover the spot where shaft extends out of the camera for non sdm motors.Attach the lens and see if it works. If it works its a communication between lens and camera.Generally the lens is the culprit. Before you try this check the 2 contact points on the camera and lens to make sure the contacts are clean.Good luck.

The 3 actuations in a row without bracketing is a little weird.
You may need to have both checked out - carry out the above suggestions and let us know how you go.

Hi Barry,
I imagine you have done this....but:
thoroughly clean the contacts on the lens & camera, if that doesnt work I would be sending it back pronto.

Cheers
Grant (one & the same that is making a rental enquiry )
