k-m/k-2000 bulb setting

I was just wondering if anybody had managed to get the bulb setting working on the K-m? Using the IR remote control that I have (a cheap multi-camera type of remote) I can get the shutter to activate but I can't get it to stay open for any length of time. Is it the type of remote or is there some other trick?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Most probably it is your cheap remote control. The shutter should remain open as long as the button of the remote control is held down. I guess your cheap remote control sends just a short signal even if you keep holding down the button, thus the camera thinks you're not pressing the button. Try the official Pentax remote control.

as mentioned by simico, it's probably your remote just sending a pulse despite pressing it down continuously.

Thanks simico and opiedog - I suspected the remote and it seems like it's been confirmed!!
