AF Adjustment

Reading the manual K20D wanted to know that if need to adjust for FF/BF issues the books states that the camera stores up to 20 lenses. Are these lenses Pentax only or any and if you have more than 20 lenses do you delete the ones that are not applicable or is the first lenses stored delete to make room for others

cheers

It works for third party lenses too. I believe it saves a setting for a lens MODEL, not serial number.

Do you really have more than 20 AF lenses that require adjustments? So far I have none.

Unfortunately its not like a PC file from which you can edit any line number.
The camera only recalls the saved value for a lens model when you mount that lens, and that's also when you have the opportunity to delete the setting if you don't need it. I'm not sure about the behaviour if the 20 settings memory is full.

I think setting 20 Autofocus lenses is plenty, bearing in mind a good proportion of your lenses probably won't need adjustment.

how many people need this for their lenses? If so, what lenses do you use? Is there a correlation with older AF lenses like the F and FA series?

I have found the slightest of FF on my 16-50 and Tamron 70-200, which I have set both lenses to +1, and problem is solved as far as I can see...

My DA 50-200mm f/4.0-5.6 needed a +2 correction.
I had always considered it soft at 50mm f/4.0 on my K100D, sharp at 100-200mm f/5.6 but after testing and adjusting the focus on the K-7, its now a good performer throughout its range.

With some lens brands like Sigma it will only remember one value. For example I have the Sigma 17-70mm and 10-20mm. I Like +3 on the 10-20mm but if I set it, I must reset it back to zero when I put on the 17-70mm. The K20D just reads all Sigma lens as one lens. With Pentax lens it remembers each lens.

can you set the AF adjustment for both ends of the zoom ? i.e., for a 17-70, one setting for 17 and one for 70 or is it just one setting for each lens regardless of focal length?

tnx

You could try to look at Pentach Hack thread for lens eeprom dump command. So, we could understand why it use same correction for all lenses from same manufacturer if it is not Pentax.
