I use the video for ID notes with news shots. That's a help.
Why hadn't I thought of this yet? Great idea!

Shall we introduce an "Exclusive PF poster" sign alongside the avatar?

cinema5d.com ...

it sure is fun. But it is very 5D2 fanboy-loaden as well (surprise: guess why it is called cinema5D ...). Be careful to always make clear that 5D2 is the better camera in your posts about another camera. Because otherwise ... Also, the subforums about other cameras are pretty silent.

As a 5d mk2 owner I think I can flame it all I want, I should go in there and mention the creaky sound they make near the battery door or lack of aperture dial meaning several finger articulations to adjsut that in manual mode. Or the nasty dirty sensors from the factory ( yes mine was new ), or total lack of weather seals ( trust me what it has is not sealing ).

Great idea Falk... Lets just just say from now on if you post in DPR, you can't post here anymore...

I will gladly stop being ignored over there to rid the world, and this forum of the dreaded "Double Posters"

IMHO,
If good Video functionality is very important to you, the GH1 probably beats any other Video-capable dSLR in the market. It was designed very much with video in mind.

If still photo functionality is still the most important factor, then the K-7 & the overall Pentax system is still the choice.

Well, you can't find a GH1 in the US right now, so depends on timing.

As stated above, if video is your most important criteria, GH1 will beat K7 for ease of use. For still photos, K7 will win in resolution and file "quality." Right now there is way more and better glass available for Pentax than for GH1 unless you are willing to use an adapter on the Panny (and you will lose functionality depending on the details).

I've shot the G1 and currently have an E-P1 (along with K20d). u4/3 is very cool and excels at some things, but isn't going to give you the performance of APS-C. Physics is physics...just depends on what you need and what you like.

Well Nostatic I totally agree with you. I am now switching since I'll be lliving in Europe for a while, and since Pentax customer service is becoming such a pain. I also have a bunch of Leica M lenses, and will use them on my GH1. AS far as sound is concerned, a good extrenal microphone or a zoom H2 with volume control would do for my documentaries. I don't need much and don't want a team, that is.
And there is a ≈Pentax to 4/3 ring at cameraquest so I may keep some Pentax glass... which is great news!
