I was quoted AU$160 (about US$125) by Pentax Australia for a spare D-L190 for a K7 but I have checked on eBay and I can get one for AU$15 (US$12)!

What's up with this?!

I have the $15 one on order.... we'll see how it goes. MIne was actually $12. I could buy 13 for the price of one pentax one. Why would I buy the original.

It's not even April 1.

Panasonic's latest firmware for its Lumix makes it impossible to use them with compatible batteries. As long as Pentax does not do that, there's no issue with those cheap batteries.

Even then you can stick to older firmware or order from B&H. You'd have to be crazy (or not have internet) to consider to buy it local in Aus. The distributor should be ashamed! and the grip $450

Yer the retail price of Pentax gear in aus is disgusting.

Can't really blame CR kennedy though they cost prices i've been quoted locally have generally been more than what I can get it from overseas.

Good example is the AF540, I was priced around $600 mark, whereas I've ordered it from a store in Canada and paid a bit over $400 au.

We get screwed in Aus.

Let your money do the talking is all I can say.

It's just so unfortunate that Pentax is disadvantaged by Pentaxians having to go non-OEM due to CRK's preposterous pricing.

Generally that's true but sometimes you can get a good deal. For example, I got my K7 for AU$1560 which is a bit cheaper than the US$1300 (AU$1600) they are being sold on eBay and internet shops.

Actually your not wrong either, I got my K7 from Elizabeth Street Cameras and paid around $1580 for it + lense.

I got a Sigma 17-70mm for $290AU.

So yes there are odd bargains here in aus from time to time.

Considering the K-7 (body only) here is the UK is the equivilent to AU$2000 (and that is after a recent AU$200 price drop) I would say you are doing ok. Not sure they are doing themselves any favours as I wont buy one for a while whereas if it had been priced the same as outside Europe I would have had one straight away.

I got a K7 spare batt from ebay, and it seems to work very well on my K7 w Grip combo.

Now I'm buying another spare.

I bought from Z434 batt for K7.
