I am excited! My K20D is shipping tomorrow to upgrade from K100D!

Hi all!
I found the K20D on 6 x payment deal from QVC and I couldn't resist since it is the only way I could afford it.
I hope to have a dramatic improvement over my beloved K100D.
I was going to sell the camera but decided it is a keeper so my wife, who really like it now and no longer uses the Sony P&S (yes I converted her to the DSLR camp) is going to get the K100D now that way I do not have to see it go.
Anything I need to know please let me know guys.
I guess I need to get a bigger card as 4GB seems small for the big RAW files or JPGs the K20D produces.

Regards

Congrads and enjoy the upgrade. I'd try to get an 8gb card (sandisk makes a 15mb/s card that I use in my k20).

I looked at newegg and the price difference between the 8GB and 16Gb I saw was only $8 so I may as well get the 16GB then.
Thanks!

Way to go. You'll quickly notice the improvements.
Make sure it's a quality, high-speed (around 30Mb/sec) card you're getting - to match the K20D's write speed.

Will keep an eye for that then. I could end up getting a few 4GB to make it easier to afford it or maybe one 4GB for now and then one 8GB later on.

Guys, i woudn't go crazy on huge-volume cards... when a 16gb goes "bye-bye", it's much worse than a 4GB... learned it the hard way...

So nowadays I prefer to have a lots of 2 and 4gb cards and switch 'em often...

Oh yeah... shaolin95 you'll enjoy the K20 for sure... I hate to say it, but K100 is a dog... so sluggish and lacking in terms of external controls...

I normally only shoot RAW so I am concerned that at 4GB I may need to switch cards too often but maybe I am off.
Maybe 2 x 8GBs is a better trade off.

After loosing 4 days of epic vacation shots cose of a busted 8gb card... i'd rather switch cards... but that's me...

So how many RAW images can you fit on a 4GB?

PS it seems about 166...right?

180-190 usually... though I shoot the K10... Thus, on K20 that would be around 160 I guess...

I can't remember exactly, but I know I can shoot at least 155 RAW on a 4GB card with the K20d, which is fine for me. I'd rather have less on each card as others have mentioned so you don't lose everything at once, so I doubt I will ever use 8GB cards. Heck, after switching rolls every 36 frames on film, or every 10 on the 67II, changing something after 150 images is no big deal.

Good luck with your new toy.

LOL about the rolls...we have gotten spoiled with the digital stuff and almost limitless memory capacity indeed. :-)
Right now temptation is big, I can get 2 of the 8GB cards (sandisk 30mb) for $90 then I get $50 back which I think is awesome if I read that correctly).

I have done comparison between Nikon D700 FF 12Mpix and my Pentax K-7 APS-C 14,6Mpix. I have used similar lenses, Tamron 17-35/2.8-4 on Nikon and Sigma 10-20/4-5.6 on Pentax. The resolution of both cameras is very similar.
Nikon D700 has lower noise, even at ISO 100.
