Sad but true the K-7 is the most fun I ever had with a camera and I have had more cameras than 99.9999% of you.

Ahh... EF17-40/4L, EF24-105/4L IS & EF70-200/4L IS. I doubt Nikon is going to listen however.

I'll have to go ahead and agree with the first half of that, but I can hardly claim the second half...

Here we are, nothing about a fullframer from Pentax and seems like it'll take years to go there, I am in a stage to sell my Pentax gear and looking at the Sony a900 / a850 or the Nikon D700 to get the FF.
I have an offer for an Sony a900 for 1999€ (last in store) and i am 99% close to take it now. I like Pentax and was just about to buy the Pentax K-7 but i just really wanted to know the Pentax/Hoya would release an FF during the next 12 or 24 months, but seems like they totally dumped that.
The choice between the D700 and A900 is bit difficult for me anyway at this moment, but as it seems now, bye bye Pentax!

actually he isn't asking for help in his original post. He simply starts another thread of how Pentax doesn't offer what I need so I feel abandoned and now I need to tell you all about it as I leave. My arguement is why go FF why not wait for the Pentax Medium Format camera. Now thats an upgrade if it comes out

Interesting to know that there are people enamored by Sony.
I know of two of my ex-Minolta friends using the Sony A900 who literally want to throw the camera against the wall in frustration because of the problems that plague this model (camera freezes with the mirror locked-up out of the blue, the occasional lens not being recognised by the camera issues, noisy images despite the high resolution).

This sounds to me like the typical honest and balanced comment of somebody that has nothing to do with Pentax....

Well if you want to switch, then do what you feel is right for you. I shoot with a few other guys...who all have Canon's...full frame (1), entry (1) and 40D (1).

They all remark on the colour saturation and rendition, the clarity and sharpness of my K10D and K2000.

One is thinking of switching to Pentax.

Re-read his post...looks like his mind is made up.

And you are right, who cares what I think you (except you maybe as you took the time to reply.)

Ha, ha, as a very long time user of Minolta gear, well I could have gone with Sony awhile back but at the time was just put off with the price of the lenses they were selling here. My friends bought the Sony because they figured it was a bargain compared to the Nikon in terms of price and FF megapixels. Now they rue their decision and just want to cut their losses and dump their cameras... but the market for a used Sony here isn't terribly great. So much for making a buying decision based on on-paper specs...

Well, the good thing is they're readily available in Canon mount.

I find it interesting that no one here voted for Sony. Ironic in some ways as they have in body stabilization and the Zeiss glass really is spectacular.
Yeah, I found some irony also when people on a Pentax forum were recommending Nikon over in-body stabilised Sony for reasons that could be similarily used against Pentax vs. the big guns (like easiness of resale etc).

I think the problem with Pentax is not w/o FF, but the future uncertainty, which does absolutely no good for Pentax. At least pre-DA lenses can be used on EOS bodies in the worst case.
What future uncertainty? Asteroid? Oh, you mean the 2012 Mayan prediction! But wouldn't that affect all camera makers? I guess I'm confused...isn't the future uncertain for everyone?

I didn't find it particularly difficult to sell Pentax gear. The demand is less, but so is supply so the market is fairly balanced. You lose more percentage wise (since Pentax is priced lower to begin with), but not in terms of actual dollars.

For example, I sold my K10D last week for $370. I bought it in January 2008 for $509 ($609 less $100 Pentax rebate). At the time, I could have bought a Nikon D80 for $899. That body is now worth about $450.
