AC adapter for K100D

This is my first post so hope I get it right.
When I transfer from my K100 to my computer the battery indicator shows the batteries are seriously challenged.
I'm looking for an AC adapter, as shown on the Pentax website.
Called Pentax. They referred me to a camera store that had no idea of what I was talking about.
Where can I get one?

Many thanks for the great forum.

If you use AC adapter for just trasferring photos, I think you will satisfy with
memory card reader. It is more convenient than connecting camera to the PC
directly.

I would echo what others have said. I picked one up for less than 10 bucks on Amazon. Don't know why I didn't do it earlier.

Not to wander too far off the original poster's thread, but I've had several instances of my Sandisk Ultra II 2 gig card becoming corrupted when removed from K100D and placed in a card reader. I have to use a recovery program called "Image Recall" to fish around and pull my lost photos off the card....seems the card's directory structure is damaged somehow when being moved from camera to reader.

And no, I don't pull the card out while the camera's powered on.

So after a couple of dicey recovery processes, I ALWAYS off load all my images via USB from the camera as a safety precaution. Might be a cheap/bad card reader, but I don't see the need to experiment when USB download seems to be a sure thing.

So yea, the AC adapter is a good idea!

You can also get the Pentax K-AC10U adapter at Amazon.com (same price as B&H). I've had ac adapters for the last three cameras I've owned and will do the same for cameras I buy in the future. Not only does it save batteries if you use the camera to DL your images but is more economical if you're using the camera indoors on a tripod.

@germar

That seems to point a lot towards your reader. I have a lian li card reader and use sandisk extreme III cards (and the ultra II cards should be just as good quality wise). Haven't had a single problem transferring files.

Over 13.000 clicks and no problems whatsoever using different cardreaders.

I've got to agree, it sounds like the reader, or the card. Does the same thing happen with other cards?

You can't pull the card from a K100D with the camera powered on. I started a thread recently advising everyone to become familiar with the camera symptoms when the card door is open: K100D shuts down and plays dead. Turn it off and on, the top display comes on for a second, then dead.

This is a "feature" not seen on any other cameras I have. But, I fear some people will have the door switch fail some day rendering the camera useless. I broke the door switch on my K110D (long story, completely my fault) and the camera spent 6 weeks in Colorado being repaired. I'd rather not have the feature and just remember to power off like my other cameras. Be gentle with that door, your camera depends on it!

I have 2year old card reader that only read SD up to 1 gig, I had to get a newer one when I got a 2gig SD.
